If you have a Nintendo Switch Online+ Expansion Pack subscription, four new SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis classics have been added to your library as of June 30th, 2022.

The accompanying trailer showcases Comix Zone (1995), Mega Man: The Wily Wars (1994), Target Earth (1990), and Zero Wing (1989) on Nintendo Switch Online. The games appear in the following order:

  • Zero Wing is a side-scrolling shoot-em-up, from Toaplan. It is also expected to arrive on Evercade later this year on the Toaplan Arcade 1 cart.
  • Comix Zone is a curious side-scrolling beat-em-up presented as pages of a comic book. It originated as a demo on the Amiga (although never released on that computer).
  • Mega Man: The Wily Wars (with one “l”) is a compilation of the first three Mega Man games, remade for the Mega Drive and Genesis, which also includes a new game called Wily Tower. In the original release, Wily Tower could only be unlocked with a completed save file of the other games.
  • Target Earth is a side-scrolling run-and-gun shooter from Masaya. If I was being uncharitable, I’d describe it as a Turrican wannabe, but it has its own strengths.

These SEGA Mega Drive and Genesis classics are available to play on the Nintendo Switch right now with an Online+ Expansion subscription.
