New Amiga Addict mag goes French

I’ve just picked up the latest Amiga Addict magazine, and was astonished to find it had a whole feature on French publishers.

I have a strange relationship with the French* (who doesn’t?) My uncle was a Francophile, which I found odd, but I’ve been strangely fascinated with Minitel since the late 80s. It was then that I discovered that France’s take on Teletext was essentially two-way. In many ways, it was a precursor to the web.

(And then there are the French forces in Sid Meier’s Colonization. I’ve never forgiven them for what happened to Roanoke on my very first play of the game.)

So it is interesting to see Amiga Addict #29’s cover feature, The French Connection. The mag celebrates France’s incredible gaming culture, which includes Delphine’s Another World and Flashback, and Infogrames’ North & South and Sim City. They call get a mention, along with some French Amiga magazines. Also, French Amiga figures including Éric Chahi (Loriciel), Eric Caen (Titus Interactive), Franck Sauer (Ubisoft), François Lionet (AMOS) are featured.

(I’m hoping for a similar feature on German developers in future.)
