Retroware and Mega Cat Studios have announced “The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-bit,” a side-scrolling action game inspired by classic titles like Mega Man, coming to NES and all major platforms in Q2 2025.

Developed by Mega Cat Studios, “The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-bit” will challenge players to battle through platforming levels and defeat iconic AVGN enemies in a bid to save gaming from a corrupted monstrosity.

What You Can Expect in The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-bit

The Angry Video Game Nerd is one of our favourite retro gaming YouTubers. As you may know, the channel reviews low quality old games. This game is loosely based on that concept, just like the previous more SNES-esque AVGN games.

With the 8-Bit adventure, you can expect:

  • Classic-Inspired Action: Fast-paced platforming with challenging levels and a focus on tight controls.
  • Authentic AVGN Experience: Features iconic enemies and nods to the popular web series.
  • NES and Modern Platforms: Available on the original NES and all modern consoles and PC.

“The Angry Video Game Nerd 8-bit” will be available exclusively through Limited Run Games, with further details on editions to be announced at a later date on the official site. The game is now available to wishlist on Steam.
