After years out in the cold, Syberia Remastered brings Benoît Sokal’s magnus opus back to the mainstream. It’s out later this year, in both standard 2D and virtual reality editions.

Coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, you can already add the game to your wishlist on Steam and the PlayStation Store. The news follows the release of the remake of Amerzone, Sokal’s previously acclaimed work.

The official blurb explains:

Developed in close collaboration by Virtuallyz Gaming and Microids Studio Paris, Syberia Remastered will give players the chance to experience the unforgettable story of Kate Walker, a New York lawyer thrown into the middle of an unexpected journey across Europe. Following in the footsteps of Hans Voralberg, she encounters memorable characters in melancholy and mysterious settings. This remaster aims to restore all the emotional and artistic power of the original work, while meeting today’s technical standards.

You can judge for yourself with this trailer:

It clearly looks very nice, although I wonder if it looks a little bit *too* nice…

Syberia Remastered in VR

It’s not all about detailed new environments, characters, and animations. Syberia Remastered will also be released as a VR game for Meta Quest 3, with a new narrative approach.

“Syberia is much more than a game – it’s an initiatory journey, an unforgettable sensory and emotional experience. With this remaster, we want a new generation to rediscover this adventure, while offering historical fans a sublimated version respectful of Benoît Sokal’s legacy.” – Elliot Grassiano, founder of Microids

Syberia Remastered is currently in production and is set to release in late 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
