The N64 title Forsaken 64 is the first “mature” title to be added to Nintendo Switch Online since 2024.
When the N64 landed, I felt the games were really expensive, and didn’t like the idea of renting. So, I relied on friends to play games like GoldenEye 007 or Mario 64, or even Rogue Squadron. One that I missed completely was Forsaken 64, but that could be about to change as the game has just hit the N64 app on the Nintendo Switch.
What is Forsaken 64?
The game’s synopsis is as follows:
You are a ruthless mercenary, sent to the condemned remains of Earth as part of a covert operation codenamed “Forsaken.” Your mission is to infiltrate and destroy the last bastions of the mechanized terror that wiped out all life on the planet. Earth is a death trap riddled with merciless mechanoid adversaries and gangs of rival bounty hunters, and you’ll have to brave them all astride your anti-grav pioncycle to make your fortune…or meet your doom.
Choose between different modes in this first-person shooter title released for the Nintendo 64™ system in 1998, and enter the fight in Single Player Mode or Multi-Player Mode. Then, select your bike. Each bike has different attributes, each biker a different attitude. Pick one that suits your style, then dive into your mission. The availability of weapons, enemies, and powerups changes depending on the level you play, so stay sharp!
As you can see, this is quite a game, with some diverse gameplay options and a four-player mode. Yes, it has obvious similarities to another FPS with four-player mode from the period, but Forsaken 64 was given a mature rating in 1998, which is why it is limited to Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers.
Here’s the trailer:
You can play the game now via Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, but be sure to update the N64 app first.
