We knew it was coming; today is the day that the first Amiga Evercade cartridge contents are announced. But who could have foreseen 10 Team 17 Amiga games would completely hijack the cart?
Team17 Collection 1 for Evercade brings together a diverse selection of 16-bit home computer classics first published on Amiga, including the atmospheric sci-fi shooters of the Alien Breed series, the bone-crunching fighting of Body Blows, the accessible sporting action of Arcade Pool and Kingpin, and much more!
The full list is as follows:
- Alien Breed Special Edition ‘92
- Alien Breed II
- Alien Breed Tower Assault
- Arcade Pool
- ATR: All Terrain Racing
- Body Blows
- Full Contact
- Kingpin: Arcade Sports Series Bowling
- Project X: Special Edition ‘93
- Qwak
The Team17 Collection 1 requires an Evercade system running Firmware v3.0.x or higher. (Update details can be found at evercade.co.uk/support.)
Representing the first time Amiga games have been legally emulated on a handheld device, the presence of industry big hitters Team 17 is welcome. But it has to be said, this isn’t quite what was expected. Alien Breed Special Edition ’92, Qwak, Arcade Pool, Project X: Special Edition ’93, and ATR: All Terrain Racing all appear on TheA500 Mini. That means only half of this collection is “new” to retro gamers.
Many fans had been hoping for a mix of games from various publishers and teams. This isn’t that… but it’s a damned fine collection of titles nevertheless.
Whether you play Evercade portable on an EXP or at home on the VS, you can order the Team17 Collection 1 from March 17th, ahead of its official May 2023 release. For full details, head to the Evercade website.
