There is more to retro gaming than just playing old games. Magazines like Amiga Addict also play their part.
Experiencing old games, and loading them up on physical media is just part of the nostalgia that retro games inspire. Another part of it is reliving the build up and fun. These days, we have online communities to discuss games with friends (rather than the school yard, bus, or commute). Thanks to the efforts of podcasters and websites like this, we have somewhere to get the latest news and reviews.
But what if you want something more tangible? What if… you wanted to head to the local newspaper shop and buy a gaming magazine like you did in the old days? Sure, you can still buy PC Gamer… but you can also buy Amiga Addict.
Launched back in 2021, Amiga Addict is now on issue 36, and its next issue takes a retail-heavy approach. The cover feature looks at Silica, one of the biggest Amiga retailers. Their ads appeared in pretty much every Amiga magazine going at one point, and they played a big part in the Amiga’s last days as a retail microcomputer.
