The Double Dragon Collection brings the classic fighting series to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PC, and Xbox.
The Double Dragon franchise is currently enjoying a mini-renaissance with the release of Double Dragon Gaiden across multiple platforms on 27 July 2023. Although not a showstopper, the title has a decent score on Metacritic that fluctuates depending on what platform the reviews are for.
For those still hungry for more of Billy and Jimmy’s adventures, you’re in luck as developer and publisher Arc System Works has announced two more titles arriving on 9 November 2023. These titles mark the first official ports of Double Dragon Advance and Super Double Dragon and will be available on “Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Steam.” Curiously, there’s no mention of PlayStation 5 in that list, but as the new consoles are backward compatible, hopefully, that’s a non-issue.
Neither of these titles has seen any attention for over 20 years, so it’s great that a new generation of gamers can experience them for the first time.
Fans of physical media will be delighted to learn that a boxed package called ‘The Double Dragon Collection‘ is also coming around the same time. This collection will release exclusively for Nintendo Switch and includes the following titles:
- Super Double Dragon
- Double Dragon Advance
- Double Dragon
- Double Dragon II: The Revenge
- Double Dragon III: The Sacred Stones
- Double Dragon IV
Arc System Works has confirmed the ports are in English on their official page.
