Finally, Game Boy and Game Boy Advance Library Hits Nintendo Switch Online

It feels like almost every Nintendo gamer was predicting and anticipating the announcement of Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance games being added to Nintendo Switch Online. During yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, we finally got the official confirmation that this was truly happening.

Available to play at launch for the basic tier of NSO are a bunch of classic favourites:

  • Tetris
  • Super Mario Land 2 – 6 Golden Coins
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX
  • Gargoyle’s Quest
  • Game & Watch Gallery 3
  • Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
  • Metroid II: Return of Samus
  • Wario Land 3
  • Kirby’s Dream Land

To further enhance this exciting addition to NSO, you can play games with different filters from the Game Boy, Game Boy Pocket and Game Boy Color! Also, you can have up two people playing compatible games locally or online as long as you’re Switch friends. Here are a list of some titles that will be added to the library in the future (release date is unknown):

  • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
  • The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages
  • Pokémon: Trading Card Game
  • Kirby: Tilt ‘n’ Tumble

If that hasn’t left you satisfied then a whole other library of GBA games might do it! To play these games you’ll need to have the NSO + Expansion Pack subscription. At launch you can play the following:

  • Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
  • WarioWare, Inc.: Minigame Mania
  • Kuru Kuru Kururin
  • MarioKart: Super Circuit
  • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap

Like with the GB library, local and online play is supported by compatible games but this time with up to four players. For future release, we have the following titles:

  • Metroid: Fusion
  • Kirby & the Amazing Mirror
  • Fire Emblem
  • F-Zero: Maximum Velocity
  • Golden Sun

You can play all launch titles now respective of your NSO subscription. We can’t wait to see this library grow and the Switch becoming Nintendo powerhouse for retro Nintendo games!
