Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct Feb 2023 event was packed full of retro goodness, from ports to remastered collections! Let’s just say we know some of you will be very pleased about what Nintendo has brought to its newest console.

Firstly, a Capcom classic, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective receives a HD remake in summer 2023! Originally releasing on the Nintendo DS, this murder mystery has the main character turning into a ghost and possessing objects to alter unfortunate events.

We Love Katamari REROLL+ Royal Reverie gets remastered and launches 2nd June this year. Roll around collecting bundles of objects in different and dynamic locations and enjoy new features like playing as King Of All Cosmos, new Selfie and Eternal modes which allow for play with no time limits. Initially a release for PS2, it’s great to see it makes its way to Nintendo! Also, if you have an active NSO account, you can play a free game trial of Katamari Damacy REROLL between the 20th-26th February.

Dungeon-crawler RPG series Etrian Odyssey Origins Collection is landing on Switch on 1st June 2023! In this HD remastered collection of Etrian Odyssey, Etrian Odyssey II and Etrian Odyssey III, you can navigate through labyrinth levels, find treasures and overcome foes along the way. You can assign roles to a vibrant cast of characters (including 24 newly illustrated ones), customise your team and upgrade your skills. You can also play in 3 different difficulty options and an auto-mapping feature for ease of play. The games will also be available for separate purchase on the eShop. Pre-orders are now available!

A GBA classic makes its way to Switch as a remaster, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. This strategy title follow a quirky set of characters on two full-story campaigns. With a selections of modes, map creation to share with other players and online and local play it looks like there’s plenty to enjoy! It makes its way to Switch on 21st April 2023.

Metroid Prime Remastered

Now, here’s a title to be excited about! With Metroid making its comeback with Dread, it was only a matter of time before Nintendo decided to finally re-release one of its popular predecessors, Metroid Prime Remastered. You can play as the infamous Samus in this first-person sci-fi adventure. Using the main feature of visors, you are given key progression information. This remaster makes use of dual-stick controls, allowing you to move around while you can change your point of view independently. You can also change the control style to suit a more classic gameplay style. The digital version of the game has landed on the eShop with the physical version coming on 3rd March 2023.

GameCube titles Baten Kaitos 1 and 2 also receive a HD remaster each. This fantasy RPG by Bandai Namco has you rebel against ca orrupted empire across two periods of war. You can team up with allies and fight battles in card-based combat, where attack power is dependent on card attributes. Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster will be available to players this summer.

Capcom is at it again with a mega (excuse the pun) bundle of MegaMan titles with MegaMan Battle Network Legacy Collection. Featuring a generous ten titles across the Battle Network spin-off series, pre-orders are available now, ready for release on 14th April this year! We also have Namco’s Tales of Symphonia Remastered arriving soon on 17th February.

What a giant set of ports and remasters to play now and look forward to later this year! Nintendo really knows how to get the hype going! What will you be playing first?
