Farming Simulator 16-bit Edition is heading for a release on physical Sega Genesis/Mega Drive cartridges.

Growing up in the city, my dreams were always painted in the vibrant greens and earthy browns of a life I’d never known: farming. While my friends were mastering platformers and racing games, I was (not-so) secretly reading about tractors and combines… and a bit of crop rotation.

(They called me “country boy.” Yep, I love Clarkson’s Farm…)

Now, imagine my utter astonishment when I heard the news: Farming Simulator is going 16-bit! Yes, you read that right. We’re talking about a genuine, physical Sega Genesis/Mega Drive cartridge. And as a city kid with a rural soul, I’m beyond excited.

The different Farming Simulator 16-Bit Editions

Strictly Limited, in a collaboration that’s about to make retro gaming history, has announced Farming Simulator 16-Bit Edition. As with a previous Commodore 64-version of Farming Simulator, it brings the complex and rewarding world of modern farming to the iconic 16-bit era.

The seeds of this project were sown with the overwhelmingly positive reception of the retro cartridge-style version included in the Farming Simulator 25 Collector’s Edition. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one yearning for a pixelated tractor! GIANTS Software, recognizing the demand, partnered with Strictly Limited to bring us this dedicated retro release.

For us collectors, there are two distinct editions to get our hands on:

  • Limited Edition (€49.99): Launching on May 14, 2025, this edition features an exclusive green cartridge, limited to just 1,000 units worldwide. That’s right, 1,000! This is a collector’s dream.
  • Deluxe Edition (€69.99): Arriving in July 2025, this edition includes the same green cartridge, plus additional collectible content that’s sure to delight any fan.

Physical printed manual alert!

Both these exclusive editions will be available only through the Strictly Limited Store. So, set your reminders, folks!

A black cartridge for the masses!

For those who might miss out on the Strictly Limited exclusives, fear not! A separate edition with a black cartridge will be available at select retailers like Amazon and VideoGamesPlus. While the gameplay is identical, the cartridge color and packaging will clearly differentiate it from the limited green editions.

Happy farming!
