The James Bond classic GoldenEye 007 finally gets a Japan re-release on Nintendo Switch Online.
Just under two weeks ago two further titles were added to Japan’s Nintendo Switch Online N64 library. These games, which released on 29th November, included 1997’s GoldenEye 007 and Jet Force Gemini (known as Star Twins in Japan).
As you will recall, GoldenEye 007 was re-released in the west in January 2023, after years of speculation.
It was also announced recently that Rare’s Jet Force Gemini (originally released in 1999) would be making its way to western NSO + Expansion Pack users in December.
On an official Nintendo page, there were two more titles outlined under a heading that translated to “scheduled to be released in 2023” for Japan releases. These include Harvest Moon 64 and 1080 Snowboarding. However, it’s important to acknowledge that this page can be updated meaning release dates could potentially be shifted around, especially with Nintendo explaining in its fine print that additional titles are put up “irregularly”.
Whilst that is all the information we have so far regarding the Switch’s N64 library, President Shuntaro Furukawa has prominently explained the company’s wish to continue to expand NSO content to maintain engagement from members.
