We’ve covered multiple fan projects, like Super Star Trek, where the developer aims to port games onto Consoles they were never intended for.
Metroid Mega Mission is the latest to join those ranks, an ambitious endeavor to bring Metroid to the Sega Genesis/Megadrive.
YouTuber, Genesis 8:14 has uploaded a short gameplay video on their channel. Details about the project are, unfortunately, rather scarce. In response to a question about the seriousness of the project, Genesis 8:14 responded by saying, “The only person who can answer this is the dev, and this ROM was sent to me by an anonymous source.”
With a lack of details, it’s a little too early to say what the future holds for Metroid Mega Mission. All we have to go on right now is this footage, and the YouTuber that posted it has confirmed that they aren’t the developer.
Still, it’s always fun to cover projects like this, even if it just turns out to be a tech demo. If we’re treated to a full release of Metroid Mega Mission down the line, It’ll be great to embark on Samus’s adventures on Sega.
