We don’t hear much about new games releasing on older consoles, unless it’s a modded version of an already established game. However, Retro Room Games have proven that new retro games can still be enjoyed on old retro consoles.
Their newest title, Magic and Legend: Time Knights has launched on GameBoy and GameBoy Colour. It follows characters Magic and Legend as they venture through time to keep history alive. This platformer takes the player through 5 distinct levels all with their own historical theme. You can switch between both characters at any point and each play with their own abilities.
The developers put real effort into making the box art look like it belongs to the GameBoy family. It is purchased as both box with the cartridge and manual for $42.99 on their site. One thing to note is that the box art may be subject to change, as mentioned on their site.
Retro Room Games value keeping retro gaming alive and refreshed. On top of developing games for 2 years now, they also aim to preserve licensed games. Roo from the Retro Room Games states, “Usually we give away digital copies of our games for free and sell the physical copies for a small profit simply to keep them alive for a new generation”.
