Retro Games Ltd Reassures Fans Over Chip Shortage

Many mass-produced retro gaming endeavours have been scuppered by the worldwide chip shortage over the past few years.

For example, the Analogue Pocket was delayed considerably, while the Evercade VS was pushed back a few months. The Steam Deck has been similarly affected, while other projects have been abandoned entirely.

Which brings us to TheA500 Mini.

Following a report that chip supplies have dropped from 40 days’ worth in 2019 to just five days’ worth in late 2021, Retro Games Ltd has moved to reassure buyers of its forthcoming Amiga emulation system.

To be clear we 100% have enough chips for the day one global (well as global as we can currently be) manufacture and retail release of batch one for March this year, but we can’t currently confirm further batches etc so if you want a THEA500 mini 100% this side of Xmas you really need to preorder or get one as soon as stocks hit retailers (pre order obviously better if you can) to ensure you get one.

Again to be clear we obviously subject to demand intend to make more, and if the mini sells we hope to do a full sized model, but for now we urge you to preorder if you really want one as per this news article today on the ongoing global chip shortages.

Remember the old saying “Fail to plan, plan to fail” fortunately WE did plan and ordered our current chips needed well in advance, many others didn’t as we all know! Phew!

What this means, of course, is that you should receive your A500 Mini in March as expected, without any delays.
