A new LEGO Ideas project is aiming straight at the hearts of retro-gaming fans, and as a long-time LEGO collector myself, I’m absolutely here for it. The submission — a beautifully designed retro arcade-style build — is gathering support on the LEGO Ideas platform, and I’ve already added my vote. If you love classic gaming or brick-built nostalgia, you may want to do the same.

Why this retro build stands out

LEGO Ideas sees hundreds of brilliant pitches, but every so often one appears that feels tailor-made for retro-gaming fans. This project recreates an old-school arcade environment in brick form, complete with the kind of detail that makes collectors grin: mini cabinets, retro colour palettes, and that unmistakable arcade energy.

As someone who has been collecting LEGO for 20 years and proudly owns sets like the LEGO Atari 2600, I’m always looking for models that blend my love of gaming history with the unmatched joy of LEGO design. This one hits that sweet spot perfectly.

A great fit for retro-gaming collectors

Retro gaming and LEGO have been crossing paths more frequently in recent years, with standout sets like the Atari 2600, Nintendo Entertainment System, and PAC-MAN Arcade. This new fan-submitted arcade concept continues that trend by offering:

  • a display-friendly centrepiece for any retro setup
  • a nostalgic tribute to arcade culture
  • an opportunity to expand LEGO’s growing library of gaming-themed sets

Whether you’re into micro-cabinets, big arcade replicas, or just the vibe of a 1980s game hall, this project looks great… and it also has sort of retro bar vibe. I’m thinking planes like Four Quarters, or the NQ64 chain.

How LEGO Ideas could bring this to life

Because this is a LEGO Ideas submission, it still needs enough community support to reach the official review stage. From there, LEGO considers feasibility, design, licensing, and market potential.

Not every project becomes a set — but the strong early momentum around this one, paired with LEGO’s recent appetite for gaming-themed models, gives me hope.

I’ve supported the campaign myself, and I strongly encourage readers to support it too. More visibility gives enthusiast projects like this a real chance at becoming official releases.

Why I want this to happen

Speaking not just as a LEGO fan but as someone who lives and breathes retro hardware, the idea of a mini-arcade hall hits all the right notes.

Give this some support

This LEGO Ideas submission is exactly the kind of project I love covering: retro-inspired, beautifully crafted, and driven by fan passion.

As a collector of two decades, I want this set on my shelf. As a supporter, I want to see it hit 10,000 votes. And as a retro-gaming writer, I think you will absolutely love watching its journey.

If you agree, head over to LEGO Ideas and add your support — these projects only happen when the community pushes them forward.
