The Sega Astro City Mini V console is now available across Europe and the UK following a stint of exclusivity in North America. Unlike many similar ‘mini’ consoles, this one has a Vertical (Tate) screen making it perfect for vertical scrolling shooters.
To complement the screen configuration, Sega has jam-packed the Astro City Mini V with this fantastic lineup of classics:
- Armed Police Batrider
- Action Fighter
- Battle Bakraid Unlimited Ver.
- Batsugun
- Cosmo Police Galivan
- Desert Breaker
- Dogyuun
- Fire Shark
- Grind Stormer
- Gunbird
- Kingdom Grandprix
- Moon Cresta
- Out Zone
- Raiden
- Sonic Wings
- Terra Cresta
- Truxton
- Truxton II
- Samurai Aces
- Strikers1945
- Wrestle War
- Zaxxon
- Super Zaxxon
Strikers 1945 and Raiden alone are enough to pique my interest! The Astro City Mini V is approximately 1/6 the size of the arcade cabinet and comes with a 4.6-Inch LCD screen. The console has HDMI support if you want to play with a larger screen, and the image can be flipped horizontally in this mode if required.
At the time of writing, you can buy the console on Amazon for £229.00. The Sega Astro City Mini V looks the part, but it’s also been met with mixed reviews. If you’re considering dropping your hard-earned cash on one, I recommend watching a few videos of it in action before taking the plunge.
