An amusing new YouTube video poses the question: “What if Super Mario Bros. Wonder was a 1988 NES game?”
Combining retro pixel graphics with an amusingly cod voiceover, the video could honestly be a lost alternative universe artifact from the 1980s.
This video is inspired by another NES-esque interpretation of Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
Honestly, these fan creations are an amazing rabbit hole of um, wonder, so if you’re going to click play on either of these videos, be prepared to lose a few hours.
While it’s unlikely an NES version of the game will materialise, the real Super Mario Bros. Wonder will be out on October 20th, 2023 on Nintendo Switch. It is the first side-scrolling title since New Super Mario Bros. U for the Wii U in 2012 (not counting either version of Super Mario Maker, of course).
