Amiga Addict finally takes a look at the history of Worms and how Team17 evolved Andy Davidson’s game.

Way back in 1995, I was introduced to Worms, an Amiga game I had no idea existed. It was relatively new and was a surprisingly fun late entry into the Amiga’s library. I really loved the game, but it’s a bit of a surprise to find that Amiga Addict hasn’t taken a good look at the game before now.

What better time, though, in the year of Worms‘ 30th anniversary? They’re joined by creator Andy Davidson who looks back at developing the original game and his plans for the upcoming Worms: The Director’s Cut 1.5. Amiga Addict #37 also looks at the Amiga Format competition that spawned Worms, Team17, and the studio’s founder Martyn Brown, who sadly passed in 2024.

Amiga Addict also show us how to create a Worms: The Director’s Cut level using Personal Paint 7!

What else is in Amiga Addict #37?

As if Worms wasn’t enough, the team has squeezed all of this into the new Amiga Addict:

  • In a truly dedicated (and perhaps slightly masochistic) look at the Amiga’s best Game Over screens, Ryan Turvill subjects himself to the Amiga’s harshest punishments! Join him in exploring the surprisingly diverse and often hilarious ways the Amiga told you to “try again.”
  • The new updated Action Replay IV addon: DeMoN.
  • Modern Amiga gaming with AA’s Onscreen games section plus a review of Absolute Zero.
  • Classic gaming reviews and retrospectives including Zool, Super Stardust and CD32 Chuck Rock II: Son Of Chuck.
  • Roving reporter Ravi takes a look at the late-90s’ pre/box and AMIRAGE K2 Amiga prototypes by Phase 5.
  • Interview with Hugh Poynton, respected journalist for Amiga Computing and Amiga Action magazines.
  • Amiga Classic Game Insights – Volume 1 documentary preview.
  • They get down in the mix with NASP (New Amiga Sample Player) DJ application.
  • Regulars including former-Sensible Software’s Stoo Cambridge, AMOS coding tutorial, Demoscene (Gerp 2025 demoparty), Amiga news and User Groups.
  • Plus lots lots more..!
