To anyone growing up in Britain in the 1980s with a Commodore 64 home computer, the wealth of magazine options was considerable. But amongst titles like Commodore User and Commodore Disk User, there was one mag that was a regular hit for younger readers:

Zzap!64

Now considered a bit of a cult (we said CULT), Zzap!64 is fondly remembered by readers for its big personalities, amusing cartoons, and detailed walkthrough maps – not to mention the Pig in a Poke cheats feature.

Many a game was picked up on the high street (or by mail order) following a recommendation in Zzap!64. It was a monthly must-buy, regularly graced with a cover by artist Oli Frey – you basically couldn’t miss it on the newsstands.

Take 35 minutes of your day to recall, or learn, about Zzap!64 with YouTubers RetroRecipes.
