It has just been announced by Granzella, that the R-Type series is set to come to PS5 and PS4 consoles in 2023.
This will feature R-Type Tactics and R-Type Tactics II in a remastered collection bundle.
This bundle will be named R-Type Tactics I • II Cosmos and will have extra post campaign content as well as online gameplay.
The originals released in 1987 as an arcade game shooter and its popularity has resulted in these remakes 25 years later.
R-Type Final 3 will also come to these consoles as a revamped and improved version of R-Type Final 2 with better visuals, seven exclusive stages and over 100 aircrafts will be playable.
This will also receive support for PSVR2 and include other small features such as minigames and online lobbies.
This however will only release in Japan in 2023 with no date confirmed for release outside that nation.
The latest release for an R-Type series game was in 2018 on Nintendo Switch. PS4 and Steam so we were due one around this time if not earlier.
All this and more was revealed by Ryokutya2089 in the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu.
