By now you should have heard about Atari 50, the celebratory 50th anniversary compilation that features Atari Jaguar games.
Making this possible is BigPEmu, the first Atari Jaguar emulator to achieve full library compatibility. Better still, BigPEmu is now available to download and run independently of the Atari 50 collection.
Here’s what you need to know about the emulator, courtesy Rich Whitehouse:
The Atari Jaguar was a famously underappreciated piece of gaming hardware, something that both the Atari 50 cartridge and this BigPEmu emulator release can help to change.
BigPEmu is a well-developed emulator, boasting a number of features:
- Full compatibility
- Fast and accurate
- 60 frames per second
- Save states
- Interruptible movies (watch the game playback and take over)
- Extra device support
- Shaders
- HDR display support
- Per-game controller profiles
- Fast forward
- OpenGL and other plugins
BigPEmu is currently only available to download on Windows, although many more features – such as Jaguar VR support – are planned. It’s probably a good idea to check the BigPEmu user manual before you start using it.
